Nigerian Preacher arrested after being accused of beating, robbing and raping escorts he met online

A Nigerian man who claimed to be a preacher has been arrested after being accused of beating, robbing and raping escorts in hotels across Washington DC. Gabriel Omogbo of Hyattsville, Maryland, is charged with attempted first degree murder, armed robbery, first degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Police believe that the 33-year-old used the website Backpage.com to find female escorts & arranged to meet up with them.

According to WJLA, the first two attacks happened at the Best Western Plus Hotel in Rockville and on both occasions he is accused of raping and stealing from two women he had met online.

A third attack took place at the Radison Hotel in Rockville, where he is accused of threatening a woman with a knife.

He ordered the woman to take off her clothes before reportedly telling her 'You are going to die today.'

He then beat her, cutting her arms, legs and hands and stole her iPad, cell phone and $300.

The woman survived and told police that before he fled the hotel room offered her a glass of water.

He was arrested after police traced CCTV footage from the hotels as well as collecting DNA evidence from each of the rooms.

CCTV footage showed a man matching Omogbo's description wearing blue jeans and brown loafers entering and leaving the hotels at the time of the attacks.

Omogbo is now being held at Montgomery County Correction Facility on a no bond status. He will next appear in Court on January 8 and could face life in prison.

According to his Facebook page, he preaches at the Celestial Church of Christ in Riverdale and is a former student at Bowie State University.

He also works as a security guard and currently lives at home with his parents.

37-year-old Robert Kummer, a former Apple employee, has been jailed for a year for causing £5000 worth of damage to a house that had cost the owner €160000 to renovate. He left piles of rubbish so high they reached the countertops and smeared excrement on the walls, floors and ceilings of the flat.

It took the unfortunate landlord, Michael Mulligan six months to clean because he couldn't afford a cleaner at the time. The 37-year-old German was caught after horrified neighbours called in the police fearing the foul smell was a dead body.

Psychiatrist Dr John Dennehy said Kummer might have been depressed but was “at a loss to explain his behaviour”.

Photos: 10yr old girl badly burnt while trying to save her twin sisters from fire but sadly they died

On November 13, a school bus carrying children crashed and caught fire near Warden in the Free State, South Africa. Four children were seriously injured while seventeen others sustained minor injuries. Thoto Mofofeng, 10, was critically injured while trying to save her 3-year-old twin sisters, Refiloe and Reneiloe but they died in the fire. Thoto is yet to be told that her sisters didn't survive.

Her father Sifa Johannes Mofofeng said he has not had the heart to tell her that her sisters died in the fire.

"We went to visit her on Sunday( November 22) and we are very happy... she is healing, her wounded face is also promising, she can also walk and talk," said Mofokeng.

Thoto, who is described as a heroine by members of the community, sustained "terrible facial burns" as she tried in vain to save Refiloe and Reneiloe who died when a school bus caught fire earlier this month.

"We are still scared to tell her that her sisters are gone because we don’t want her to get worse," said Mofokeng.

"Although it is still hard to come to terms with the loss, we are receiving a lot of help from members of the community, which we appreciate."

Mofokeng said five of his children - aged 3, 10, 15 and 20 - were in the bus that was transporting 22 children.

It was travelling from a crèche at the Sibonakaliso Combined School between Warden and Harrismith when it caught fire. Mofokeng said when he arrived at the scene, he found his twin toddlers had already died.

"I will miss them so much, they were funny and naughty and I just loved having them around. Whenever I was busy they would come to disturb me so that I could play with them," he added.

Plane with 500 Nigerians deported from the UK arrives in Lagos

500 Nigerians have been deported from the United Kingdom and arrived the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos this morning. Many of them were deported for illegal stay permits. When interviewed, one of them said he was arrested by British police and was not allowed to even take his belongings before being deported. UK government plans to deport 29,000 Nigerians.

The Nigerian government has frowned at the mass deportation, stating that efforts must be made by the UK government to ensure those being deported are really Nigerians, medically fit to travel and have a role to play in the country - meaning they should be able to fit into Nigerian society.

He shot Laquan 16 times at point blank range for 13 seconds as the young man laid motionless on the ground with smoke rising from his back.

The police officer claimed he felt threatened by the teenager and that was why he used his gun but he has since been charged with first-degree murder.

Yesterday, hundreds of protesters took to the streets after watching the video of the shooting which was released last night. They chanted '16 shots' and formed human blockades across roads in Chicago. Other demonstrators gathered outside police stations

5 months as a governor, I am already tired - El Rufai

Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai says the stress of seeking ways of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in Kaduna state has left him tired after just 5 months of assuming office. El Rufai said this while speaking at the just-concluded Ake Arts and Book Festival which held in Abeokuta, Ogun State November 17-21.

“As a state governor the challenge for me is what to do to create jobs in Kaduna State. Eighty-two per cent of the eight million people in Kaduna State are below the age of 35.
My challenge is not whether population grows next year or the year after. It is to get jobs for this young people, otherwise no one will sleep in peace. Frankly speaking, five months as governor, I am already tired. I honestly do not think that anyone who wants to do this job seriously can do it for more than four years and not burn out. When I look at some of my colleagues, some are putting on weight, they are looking nice, I ask them, ‘how do you do it?”he said
