(Photo) The Little Baby Born With Biggest Tongue, The Size Of A Grown Man

A baby who nearly choked to death because of the size of her huge tongue can now breath a sigh of relief after doctors successfully reduced the size of her tongue.
The baby was born with an adult-sized tongue due to a rare genetic condition, Dailymail reports.

Paisley Morrison-Johnson had such a large tongue that she needed help breathing for the first week of her life to stop her from choking to death. She was born with Beckwith Wiedemann syndrome (BWS) – a rare overgrowth disorder affecting around one in every 14,000 births worldwide

The report further revealed that the rare condition caused her tongue to grow more than twice the size of her mouth, which meant she struggled to feed.

So Paisley, from Aberdeen in South Dakota, had to be fed through a tube in her stomach until she was six month’s old.

Parents Madison Kienow, 21, and Shannon Morrison-Johnson, 23, agreed to surgery to slice parts of it away. But her tongue continued to grow back and still hung out of her mouth.

Six months ago, Paisley had her second tongue reduction and has smiled for the first time after having a total of more than six inches of muscle removed.

Paisley, who is 16 months old, is now enunciating the sounds that will allow her to speak her first words.

‘Her tongue filled up her whole mouth, it was very thick and protruding out of her mouth,’ said Ms Kienow, a medical student. Her parents are so delighted with the latest development.

Doctors believe Paisley will do well as they continue to monitor her after surgery.

Corruption!!! DSS Finds Rolls Royce,15 Exotic Cars In Judge’s House As Others Confess

During the invasion of the official residence of one of the seven judges raided recently, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) discovered a fleet of 15 exotic cars including a Rolls-Royce.

A source close to the investigation who pleaded not to be named because he is not permitted to talk to the media said:

“Operatives have discovered that one of the judges owns a mansion which was contracted to a construction firm at a huge cost. In fact, the judge imported furniture from Brazil, Argentina and Spain.

“At a stage, he conducted his ‘poor colleagues’ round the mansion in an open display of affluence. The judge has about 15 cars, including a Rolls-Royce. This Rolls-Royce was imported.

Rolls-Royce Limited is a British car manufacturing and, later, aero-engine manufacturing company founded by Charles Stewart Rolls and Sir Frederick Henry Royce on 15 March 1906 as a result of a partnership formed in 1904. Its latest cars cost at least a whopping N100 million depending on the brand and the exchange rate of the naira to a dollar.

The same judge whose name is being shielded, according to The Nation, was reportedly said to have hired a notable construction firm to build his palatial home. He also imported furniture from foreign countries.

Detectives also uncovered more corrupt practices traced to some of the judges undergoing probe, according to the source, during interrogation, another judge reportedly told the DSS that he did not know how and when N18 million got into his account because he was not getting alerts from his bank which would have made him lodge a complaint. Despite the judge’s denial, the source said: “but we have evidence of withdrawals from the account.”

One of the judges also said the money found in his account was his accumulated medical allowances. Responding to a question, the source revealed that another judge was found to have submitted three assets declaration forms to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

He said:-

“We have retrieved the assets declaration forms of these judges. It was shocking that one of them has three asset declaration forms with different dates of birth.”

The asset forms of the seven arrested judges were being analysed by the DSS as at yesterday, the report said.

While the judges have continued to make useful information to the operatives, the government seems to have foreclosed their return to their profession as it is believed they cannot be facing trial and still be in the adjudicating cases.

The Justices who were recently arrested in a string operation by the DSS include Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and Inyang Okoro – the suspended Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ilorin Division, Justice Mohammed Ladan Tsamiya, who was picked up in Sokoto; Justice Adeniyi Ademola (Federal High Court); the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice I. A. Umezulike; Justice Kabiru Auta of Kano State High Court; and Justice Muazu Pindiga (Gombe State High Court).

The source further told disclosed that the government has asked the National Judicial Council (NJC) to suspend the affected judges pending the outcome of their trial. He added that those who may not be allowed back to the bench are Justice Ngwuta, Justice Okoro, Justice Ademola and Justice Pindiga, as they could be retired. However, he said that the judges will still go through a trial to enable Nigerians to know that “they were actually caught in the act”. The source further said:

“The position of the government is that none of these judges will be allowed back to the bench in the interest of the nation’s Judiciary. They cannot be arraigned in the dock and at the same time be adjudicating or attending to cases.

“It is left to the NJC to allow the affected judges to keep off the bench until their fate is determined. But certainly, they will face trial and the outcome will determine whether or not they will be retired or dismissed.

“We are expecting the NJC to do the needful by suspending the judges.”

Tree Man’ Feeds Himself For The First Time After Surgery

A YOUNG man nicknamed the ‘Tree Man’ from Bangladesh is now able to feed himself for the first time in almost a decade, thanks to surgeons freeing his hand of bark like growths

Suffering from the extremely rare condition known as Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis, Abul Bajandar, 25, has been struggling with the growths since he was 15 years old.

He said: ”It makes me so uncomfortable, restless, that I cannot stand or sit in one place. It just drives me crazy.”
The condition, which is a virus, causes tumours and warts to appear all over the body as well as increase the production of keratin, the substance nails are made from.
Abul along with his mother, wife and daughter, travelled by bus for a gruelling six hours from their rural village to the capital, Dhaka, to receive medical help.
Although extremely rare, Abul is not the first person to have such a dramatic reaction to the virus.
Dede Koswara, a man from Indonesia famously received worldwide recognition as the first tree man, and underwent surgery in an attempt to remove all his growths.
Armed with more knowledge about the condition, doctors treating Abul were confident about carrying out a surgical procedure, opting to operate on one of his hands, rather than a few fingers at a time.
Plastic surgeon, Dr Samanta Lal Sen was one of the surgeons that oversaw the operation on Abul.
He said: “We were planning to do only two fingers, but we have done five fingers. It’s beyond our expectation!”
The father-of-one was amazed at the result of the complex surgery and could feel the results immediately. The father-of-one was amazed at the result of the complex surgery and could feel the results immediately.

What Reckless Police Driver Did To Two People In Delta

A police driver has killed two people while trying to stop an overloaded commercial bus on the Asaba-Ibusa-Ogwashi-Uku expressway, Oshimili area of Delta state, on Thursday October 6.

The  driver of the commercial bus and a male suspect whom the police were taking to the state command in Asaba, died on the spot.

Female suspect, who the policemen had also arrested, reportedly passed out and was rushed to a hospital.

An eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Uche, said the police van, with inscription anti-crime patrol, Kwale division, was coming from the Ogwashi-Uku area about 2pm when the incident happened.

He also stated further that the police, upon sighting the overloaded bus, started chasing it, Uche added that the bus was heading towards the Ughelli area when the police van, carrying three policemen and two suspected criminals, crashed into it to force it to a halt.

Although one of the bus passengers survived, the bus driver, identified as Chinedu Ojimadu, was not so lucky as he was burnt to death in the presence of sympathisers and the policemen.

It was gathered that the police, in order to avoid a reprisal from sympathisers, called for help from the Ibusa police station.

“This accident was a flagrant abuse of power by those who are supposed to enforce the law. The policemen veered off their lane to stop a bus on motion from a slope, which resulted in the bus exploding.

”The incident must be thoroughly investigated. The three policemen must be fished out to pay for their crime. They killed my brother for no reason. They watched my brother burn without doing anything,” a relative of the deceased driver said.

A senior police officer at the Kwale police division confirmed the incident.

The spokesperson for the Delta state police command, Celestina Kalu, also confirmed the incident but said she could not tell if there was any casualty.

In recent development, well over 2,800 motorists have been fined by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for ignoring the directive to install speed limiting devices on their vehicles before October 1.

Photos: Coffins waiting in Italy port for bodies of migrants, Nigerian survivors describe harrowing journey

Badly disfigured bodies of 21 young women and one man, including Nigerians who died in the Mediterranean Sea were recovered from rubber boats on Wednesday.
The search and rescue vessel run in partnership between Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) and SOS MEDITERRANEE also rescued 209 people from the dinghies. The rescued include two pregnant women and 50 children, of whom 45 were travelling without parents or guardians.
The bodies were brought to port of Trapani, Sicily on Friday, July 2 as fellow migrants described scenes of panic and violence when water poured into their dinghy. Some survivors had bite marks, testimony to a desperate struggle onboard to escape death.

People on the rubber dinghy said human traffickers in Libya had pushed too many migrants aboard and the floor had split after the boat put to sea, proving a death trap for young women who had been sitting in the central section.

"I kept asking for help. Nobody would help. They were climbing on me to stay out of the water. I thought I would die," a 24-year-old Nigerian woman named Mary told MSF.

"I had to bite to be able to breathe. The woman I bit stood up. Men were standing on top of me. A woman stood on my face ... A woman who was pregnant died. We were under the water together." said Mary.

Erna Rijnierse, an MSF doctor who was aboard the rescue ship, the MV Aquarius, said there was an eerie silence when they neared the dinghy and it was obvious there had been a struggle.

"You can tell it from the nail scratches on people's arms and legs, but also we had 10 people with human bites on arms, a back and also on the lower back and ankles," she said.

Mary told MSF she had been held in prison in Libya - immigrants are often arrested there - for two months before finding a place on the dinghy. Rijnierse said she believed many of the victims had been detained prior to the trip and were too weak to fight their way off the floor.

"They rape there. They are looking for young girls, you cannot say no, they have guns, shout, speak in their language," Mary said, describing her ordeal in the prison before she managed to escape and meet up with her husband.

Another Nigerian survivor, a 30-year-old man called David, urged would-be migrants not to make the journey.

"Taking the boat is very dangerous. That is the truth," he said, adding: "I feel bad about the women who died. It wasn't supposed to happen." he said.

Nearly 3,000 migrants and refugees have died in the Mediterranean Sea this year while trying to reach Europe - three quarters of them en route from north Africa to Italy, the International Organization for Migration said on Friday. Just over 80,000 people, mainly from Africa, have reached Italy since Jan. 1, more or less in line with last year's numbers, according to official figures.
