A 70-year-old man, Adamu Sule, was arrested by the Police in Abuja for impersonating the Special Adviser to the President on Defence Matters.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Manzah Anjuguri, said the suspect was arrested on October 18 at a house in the Maitama area of Abuja where he claimed to have met a former governor.
In a statement released by Anjuguri on Monday, part of it read:
“Upon his arrest, the suspect confessed to the police that the claim that he served in the army and that he is the Senior Special Adviser to the President were all falsified.
“He also confessed that he only hides under that guise to solicit for juicy contracts or financial favour from his high profile victims.”
They recovered a fake identity card with the name, Col. Adamu Sule, Senior Special Adviser to the President on it and five complimentary cards from him.
Anjuguri stated that the suspect had been transferred to the Command Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department for further investigation.
Aamule Sule claimed to be a retired Army Colonel.
